Welcome to Class Confessions by FLIP, a tumblr dedicated to highlighting the culture of silence regarding class identity at Stanford. This project originated with a Class Confessions event hosted by FLIP (First Generation Low Income Partnership). Students were asked to submit instances in which they hide their class identity. We received many responses on similar issues from both students identifying as low income and those identifying as having wealth. Many times, people hide parts of their life to avoid stigmatization and awkwardness. Hiding your class identity can restrict discussion of important topics regarding all members of our society from every area of the socioeconomic spectrum. Part of FLIP's mission is to raise awareness about class issues, foster an open and respectful campus environment, and engage in a cross-class dialogue. Anonymously submit your class confessions in our ask box.
